Xi Jinping

In the heart of China’s political stage lies an extremely significant event – the National Congress. Every five years in a grand event, China unveils the seven most influential figures of the country. These people are responsible for shaping the country’s destiny.  At the forefront of this elite assembly stands Xi Jinping, a man who’s rise to power is rarely witnessed since the days of Mao Zedong.

Xi Jinping’s for the third consecutive time emerged as the paramount leader during the National Congress of 2022. Keeping his last tenures in mind, his grip on the power is nowhere loose and if the things go similar way, it won’t be a matter of surprise if his tenure exceeds. But Xi Jinping’s rise to power is a story full of ambition, resilience, and strategic maneuvering.

Xi Jinping’s Childhood

Xi was born in a privileged family and was taught about the chaos of Mao’s Cultural Revolution in his formative years. These tales sowed the seeds of his ascent. Xi’s father, Xi Zhongxun extended refuge to Mao’s forces during the Long March days. This turned out to be a defining episode in Xi Jinping’s life as this bond would go on for generations.

His political journey began from the corridor’s of Beijing. His tenure in rural areas like Hebei and Fujian earned him recognition as a pragmatic leader who was loyal to the party’s cause. He created alliances and made a name for himself as a party loyalist during these days. 

From then Xi Jinping’s every step created a mass of support from people and returned back to Beijing. He then curated his induction in the Politburo Standing Committee. Xi among the powerful people of China, followed actions that reflected ambition and deference.

Political Rise

Xi Jinping came into power in 2012 and he took some serious decisions without wasting any time.  An anti-corruption crusade saw the clearance of hundreds of high-ranking officials. This further strengthened Xi’s control as he controlled the government and people working for the government.  

Xi’s contribution to China’s growth has left quite an imprint with assertive foreign policy stance and domestic consolidation. Under his leadership, chinese economy has thrived with the yuan reaching new heights. Although his journey has been full of controversies with allegation of human rights violations and multiple border conflict.

As Xi Jinping enters his third term, his control over power just appear to get strengthened.  With a Politburo Standing Committee teeming with loyalists and a curbing down the voice of dissent, Xi’s is also assumed to thrive. Yet, amid China’s shifting socio-political landscape, the contours of Xi’s legacy remain uncertain. Xi remains an integral part of China and it’s influence on others.
