Boxing legend Mike Tyson had a scary incident this week when he suffered a medical emergency on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles. The 55-year-old former heavyweight champion’s team confirmed that he became ill about 30 minutes before landing.
According to Mike Tyson’s representatives, he experienced nausea, dizziness and an “ulcer flare up” during the flight. Upon noticing his condition, the flight crew diverted the plane to make an emergency landing in Amarillo, Texas.

Photos and videos circulating on social media show Mike Tyson being escorted off the plane. He received medical evaluation and treatment from paramedics on the tarmac in Amarillo. After being stabilized, he was eventually cleared to re-board and continue on to Los Angeles.
Mike Tyson’s team thanked the medical personnels and crew on board for their swiftness and service. It is said that Tyson is now “doing great” after the sudden health scare. His team did not provide any additional details about the specific cause or nature of his condition.

The incident comes about two months before Tyson is scheduled to take on YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in an exhibition match being streamed on Netflix. The 27-year-old Paul has been actively promoting and hyping up the fight. Paul has been continuously taking digs on Mike Tyson online keeping the audience entertained.
When asked recently if he planned to go easy on the boxing icon, Paul claimed he absolutely would not, saying “He’s ruthless, he’s the most vicious champion ever so I have to channel that Mike Tyson energy to finish him.”
For his part, Mike Tyson had complimentary words for Paul’s skills. During an interview last year he praised Paul’s and his ability to defeat boxers he “really shouldn’t be beating”. He also said that Paul is doing “sensational” things to grow boxing’s popularity.
